We are Tereza Lvová and David Owen
and this is our story:
Tereza was born and raised in the historic town of Valtice in southern Moravia. After studying mathematical analysis at Masaryk University in Brno, she went to work at a small, award-winning hotel in Vermont, USA, in the 1990s for her first work experience of gastronomy.
Upon her return, she began working in tourism. As a guide and later co-owner of the British travel agency, Kudu Travel, she visited many beautiful places in the world and pursue her interests, including botany, ornithology, hiking, opera and good food and wine.
She bought her house in Nyklovice at the turn of the century and after reconstruction, she moved here in 2010.
David is from North Wales. His original profession is as a barrister, but during his lifetime he has also worked as a waiter, restaurant director, film extra, actor and venture capitalist.
David and Tereza’s paths crossed in 2014 on a business trip to the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic. Tereza could not resist David’s invitation to view the orchids in the famous Kew Botanic Gardens of London. They have been married since 2017.
Until the pandemic, they spent their time alternately working on Kudu Travel tours and in their two homes, in Nyklovice and Kew. During the pandemic summer of 2020, they completed the reconstruction of the former smithy near their house. In this beautiful space, they created a small café and a gift shop.
